Casa Rural with modern comfort

    Cortijo de Romualda has 4 large bedrooms, that all have a door to the patio. Their layout is as follows:

    A large bedroom with a double bed and its own ensuite bathroom

    a bedroom with two single beds

    a children's bedroom with two single beds.

    a bedroom with a double bed and private bathroom, located next to the main house.

    There is also a baby cot. In total the house has 3 indoor bathrooms and an outdoor shower.

  • - Fully equipped

    Just bring a beach towel and your personal items. Everything else is present.

    Well-equipped kitchen with oven, induction stove, grill, spices, oil, etc.

    WIFI, Books, DVDs, an old PlayStation 2, and a small TV.

    Shutters and heat-resistant double glazing, (ceiling) fans

    2 high chairs, toys, Duplo, comics, drawing equipment

    Bed linen and smaller towels, etc.

    Equipped with dishwasher and washing machine

    Private swimming pool (7.5 × 4 m) on the private back patio, open May to end of October. Outdoor shower.

We have been coming to Andalusia since our student days, and have therefore rented numerous houses and apartments ourselves. All that experience we now use to offer our own house for rent. We hope you have a great time there and that you feel at home.

 
 

  • Cortijo de Romualda was built at the beginning of the last century as a small farm. We became the owners in 2010, and to make it a nice family holiday home, we renovated it for 2 entire years. You can read more about the history of the house here.

  • Before the renovation, the house was in a quite deteriorated state (it was basically a ruin). Therefore only the old stone walls could be reused, resulting in a house that is modern both inside and out. But to maintain the spirit of the previous owner (an old family friend) it has been kept sleek and without unnecessary frills. Nowadays we have also built a modest private swimming pool.

  • Under the modern minimalist look, the old walls have been maintained. They are 50 cm thick and made from boulders that are ideal for the climate. In the summer, when it is sometimes well above 30 degrees outside, the temperature inside remains fairly constant. The difference between inside and out can sometimes be 10 degrees! Combined with ceiling fans, good insulation, double glazing and sun shutters, this ensures a pleasant natural climate in the house.

  • Cortijo de Romualda has an unobstructed view of approximately 7,500 m² of private land, with mountains directly behind it. It is located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Los Majanos, consisting of 7 houses mainly inhabited by older Spaniards. Los Majanos belongs to Fernán Pérez, the village a 15-minute walk (3 minutes by car) away. In Fernán Pérez, you will find Fina’s shop, where everyone from the village comes to exchange the latest gossip and where you can buy everything you need. The village square is home to the bar of Lola and her sons. Go eat a tapa and have a hearty lunch with the workmen from the area. Unlike the villages on the coast, most of the houses in Fernán Pérez belong to actual locals and not tourists. This means that also in winter, the village is full of life and the bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Location of Cortijo de Romualda

Cortijo de Romualda is located in a hamlet of 7 houses close to the village of Fernan Perez (shown on the map) in the municipality of Nijar, Province of Almeria (Andalucia, South-East Spain). The house is difficult to find using navigation apps since the road that passes by the house is unpaved. However, by using the exact coordinates and directions that you get from us, you will find it without any problems.
